Let's be honest from the start: Ca' del Borgo isn't in Castellabate. We're in Ogliastro Cilento, about 25 km and a 25-minute drive from Santa Maria di Castellabate, even in August. If you want the sea right outside your door, we may not be the right choice.
But if you're looking for a peaceful base to explore the whole coast, we're in a handy spot: Agropoli is 10 minutes away, Paestum 15, Castellabate 25 and Ogliastro Marina about ten minutes further on. And in the evening you come back to the quiet of the hills, with the pool, free parking and no tourist tax.

What to see
The village of Castellabate
The old village sits on a hill around the Castello dell'Abate, founded in 1123 by Abbot Costabile Gentilcore. Through lanes, arches and small squares you reach the 12th-century basilica of Santa Maria de Gulia and the San Costabile viewpoint, which looks out over the whole coast.
It's the village made famous in Italy by the film "Benvenuti al Sud". Our tip is to go up in the late afternoon, when it's cooler and the light over the bay is at its most beautiful.
The sea
Santa Maria, Punta Licosa and Ogliastro Marina
Below the village lies Santa Maria di Castellabate, with its sandy beaches and seafront promenade. The stretch of sea in front has been a marine protected area since 2009, reaching as far as Punta Licosa.
A little further south is Ogliastro Marina, Francesco's favourite beach: spectacular water, free beach and a few beach clubs, such as Lido Sirena. To see Punta Licosa from the sea, Submania runs small-group boat trips from Agropoli harbour.

Morning at the beach in Ogliastro Marina or Santa Maria, afternoon up in the old village of Castellabate among lanes and viewpoints, a sunset aperitivo at the Cliff Bar and dinner at Lo Sparviero. Castellabate is also one of the three stops on the three-day itinerary Francesco recommends, together with the temples of Paestum and Acciaroli.

"A corner of paradise suspended in time. Cà del Borgo is a magical place, where it feels like going back in time. Immersed in immense peace, the only sounds you hear are birdsong and the rustle of the wind. It's the ideal place to switch off and enjoy the sky and a wonderful view. What made our stay even more special was Francesco, a fantastic host: super helpful, kind and attentive to our every need, going well beyond our expectations. Special mention for the breakfast too, truly abundant and delicious. Highly recommended!"

"We had a truly pleasant stay and can only recommend it! The house is exactly as shown in the photos and described in the listing. We found the room, bathroom and terrace spotlessly clean, well kept and welcoming, so much so that we really felt at home. The view is magnificent, so perfect it looks like a green screen!
